“Sound Health”
There are countless ways in which to enjoy a state of natural health. One of many people’s favorite ways is through the use of Sound. Working with sound can be so subtle and yet incredibly profound at the same time…
Medical scientists have discovered the average speed of sound through (or rate of vibration for) healthy organs, bones and tissue - from which they are discovering that projecting these vibrations into unhealthy organs can entrain them back into a state of normal vibration, and therefore health. The naturally occurring mathematical relationships of brain waves, energetic meridian lines, vibrant foods, the periodic table of elements, and even the solar system have been estimated. Many manufacturers of sound healing instruments (such as tuning forks) base their designs upon this research.
When healers work with sound, specific frequencies such as mathematical fifths in music theory, perfect octaves, and the succession of harmonic intervals are used very often. There are prominent scientists, musicians, and inventors who agree on the average bandwidth of sonic frequencies that correlate to the human body and even our DNA.1 Exposing our ears and bodies to these tones (also referred to as vibration or pitch) for several minutes at a time, can have a deeply beneficial impact on our sense of well-being. Combining these with our INTENTION toward healing and well-being, has resulted in increased speed of recovery after injury, and positive effects in simply maintaining a person’s state of well-being. Sounds can create truly amazing feelings, which can be beneficial no matter a person’s state of health.
Allowing ourselves a little bit of time throughout the week to sing, play, or simply listen to tones that can increase our well-being? Sounds good to us.

QUOTES that resonate:
Toning… “there is no other way to localize oxygenation, energy flow, and pulsation as non-invasively within such a short period of time.” -- Don Campbell, the Roar of Silence
“Toning releases tensions and stimulates circulation and nerve energy in the body. It’s a natural method of healing. It releases the pattern of perfection within each person." -- Laurel Elizabeth Keyes, Toning - the Creative Power of the Voice
There are "combination(s) of harmonic sounds that improve human growth and heal illness." -- Dorothy Retallack, Sound of Music & Plants
“Everything in the universe is in a state of vibration. This includes the human body. Every organ, bone, tissue, and other part of the body has a healthy resonant frequency. When that frequency alters, that part of the body vibrates out of harmony and this is what’s termed disease. If it is possible to determine the correct resonant frequency for a healthy organ and then project it into that part which is diseased, the organ should return to its normal frequency and a healing should occur.” -- Jonathan Goldman, Healing Sounds
“A healthy organ will have its molecules working together in a harmonious relationship with each other and will all be of the same pattern.” -- Dr. Peter Guy Manners, MD, inventor of cymatic therapy and the Cymatic Instrument
“In Europe for at least 20 years, and now perhaps in the U.S., there are therapists who teach the mentally and verbally handicap to make vowel sounds and to project the sound into their own foreheads. After several weeks of training, speaking and singing functions are restored in the handicap students. This is thought to be evidence of the brain rerouting its neural passageways around damaged parts of the brain.” -- Helga Rich, Denmark vocal instructor and yoga teacher
“Higher pitch overtones are like a finger rubbing on the edge of a crystal glass ~ it’s kind of like you’re listening for changes in the top edge of the sound. As you rediscover & bring out the overtones in your own voice, they’ll be made stronger & louder by the overtones from other voices in a group. The fruit of this single pointed action is a deep and powerful experience - that our collective voice is far greater than a collection of voices.” -- Baird Hersey, musician & Overtone singer, Director of Prana overtone choir
“Overtone chanting is extremely healing...When you’re doing over-toning, you’re beginning to differentiate mental and physiological processes that are not normally differentiated. This requires incredible concentration - you use parts of the brain that you don’t normally use - and when you do that something else happens and you enter into the world of the spirit.” -- Jill Purce, Overtone singer with studied with Stockhausen
“Harmonic toning affects the flow of cerebral spinal fluid through the cranium, which has an overall effect upon the health and wellness of an individual.” -- Dr. Harlan Sparer, NY. “The flow of this fluid is the physical equivalent to the kundalini energy of the Eastern mystical traditions.” -- Jonathan Goldman, Healing Sounds
“Young people who participate in the arts for at least 3 hours on 3 days a week, through at least one full year are: www.artsusa.org/public_awareness/facts
· 4 times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement
· 3 times more likely to be elected to class office within their schools
· 4 times more likely to participate in a math and science fair
· 3 times more likely to win an award for school attendance
· 4 times more likely to win an award for writing an essay or poem”
